With the Vitobloc product group, Viessmann offers combined heat and power units (CHP units) for decentralised energy production via cogeneration. This makes it possible to produce heat and power at the same time. It increases the degree of self-sufficiency and offers enormous savings potential – both ecological and economical. This is because the especially efficient utilisation of gas as an energy source reduces not only CO2 emissions but also fuel and electricity costs. With a correspondingly high output, the Vitobloc 200 and 300 CHP units are designed specifically for commercial, industrial and municipal use, as well as for large residential buildings.
The high efficiency of combined heat and power generation is based on the fact that when electricity is produced by a generator driven by a gas combustion engine, this process generates heat as well. Viessmann Vitobloc CHP units use this waste heat to produce heating water and DHW. The overall efficiency is thus significantly higher than when power and heat are generated separately. The Vitobloc 200 EM-20/39 unit has an efficiency level of up to 95 percent. Its thermal efficiency is 63 percent and its electrical efficiency is 32 percent.
Viessmann Vitobloc 200 and 300 CHP units demonstrate their strengths particularly where heat and power are required constantly. To enable the longest possible runtimes, a buffer cylinder can be integrated to store the heat, depending on the consumption profile of the building. On the electricity side, the aim is to achieve the highest possible self-consumption of the power produced on site. Because of high electricity prices, this is more profitable than the remunerated feed-in to the public grid.
The Viessmann range of CHP units includes the Vitobloc 200 and 300 product series. Both are supplied fully ready for connection and offer impressive reliability. With intervals of up to 6000 hours run without oil top-up, Vitobloc 200 CHP units are particularly easy to maintain. With the Vitobloc 300 models, the maintenance intervals are even longer, at up to 8000 hours. The latter are H2 ready, meaning they are all set for futureproof heating: in principle, operation with 20 percent hydrogen in the gas mixture is possible. Particularly high efficiency is achieved here through condensing technology. This is also used in some models of the 200 product range and can sometimes be retrofitted with a downstream condensing heat exchanger.
Vitobloc CHP units offer innovative technology for a wide range of applications. Due to the variety of output sizes, the product range includes the right system for almost every requirement. In addition to standard products, it is also possible to produce units tailored to individual needs. This allows the system to be customised exactly to the respective application. Viessmann CHP specialists are available to assist the trade partner carrying out the work to ensure optimum implementation. They provide support with engineering, project planning, sizing using energy consumption data, and applying for government subsidies.
The following overview shows all Viessmann Vitobloc 200 and 300 models sorted by product range and ascending output. Note: the Vitobloc 200 EM-260/390 MT does not have an exhaust gas heat exchanger and if used with high exhaust gas temperatures, is suitable for integration with waste heat boilers. In the Vitobloc 200 EM-430/580 (SCR) and 200 EM-530/660 (SCR), an SCR catalytic converter ensures particularly low nitrogen oxide emissions.
In addition to the technology itself, Viessmann also offers a comprehensive range of services. This ensures smooth operation of the Vitobloc CHP unit and preserves the value of the system. Users can choose from different maintenance contracts. The interval and scope of the service items can be adapted to the customer's needs.
